Call for Papers!
We invite you to participate in the 73rd annual meeting of the Southeast Philosophy of
Education Society (SEPES) in Decatur, Georgia on February 19-20, 2021.
SEPES has a long tradition of providing a friendly forum for dialogue and the exchange of
philosophical ideas related to a broad variety of educational topics. We welcome
presentations from graduate students, scholars, and practitioners from both within and
beyond the social foundations of education.
While there is no particular theme to the conference, SEPES encourages participants to
engage with philosophical ideas concerning education at various levels. Possible topics
might include, but are not limited to, the following: the relationship of school to society;
democracy and education; issues of diversity and commonality in education; neoliberalism,
neoconservatism, white supremacy, and conservative modernization in education;
education in the Anthropocene; contemporary theory in education; abolitionist or
antiracist approaches to education; analyses of history or policy in education;
methodological approaches in educational research.
We invite proposals on these and other topics that meaningfully engage philosophy in the
consideration of problems of educational relevance. The proposal deadline is November 1,
2020 and should be no more than 500 words, excluding references.
